Jennie van Dyk
PhD Student
Jennie van Dyk joined our group as a PhD candidate in 2024.
Jennie obtained a Bachelor's in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology with an Honours in Pharmacology at the University of Stellenbosch in 2021. She then pursued an MPhil Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Cape Town, where she was introduced to pharmacometrics and completed her thesis in our group in 2023.
Her previous work in our group involved modelling gentamicin in puppies with parvoviral enteritis and simulating the whole-wide dog population to optimize veterinary antibiotic dosing strategies.
Jennie is currently working on optimizing treatment of pediatric infectious disease.
Research projects
- PediCAP: Pediatric Community Acquired Pneumonia, evaluating and modelling amoxicillin and clavulanic acid in different three different ratios when administered as step-down oral antibiotic treatment in severe pediatric community acquired pneumonia
- VirTUAL: Vulnerable population Tuberculosis Antiretroviral, modelling ritonavir-boosted atazanavir in children with HIV.
