Lufina and Roeland attended a study results meeting for the CHEMCHA trial in Jinja, Uganda
Our team enjoys sharing our pharmacometrics expertise with multiple collaborations around the world. One such collaboration is with the Eastern Africa Malaria Consortium that recently conducted the CHEMCHA trial, a double-blind randomised clinical trial comparing Dihydroartemisinin-Piperaquine or Sulphadoxine-Pyrimethamine for the Chemoprevention of Malaria in Children with Sickle Cell Anaemia in eastern and southern Africa.
Our team played a leading role in designing and analysing data for the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) sub-study of the CHEMCHA trial. The PK/PD sub-study focused on understanding the pharmacokinetics of piperaquine in this population and marrying this with the cardiac safety of piperaquine. Roeland and Lufina presented the preliminary results of the sub-study at the CHEMCHA results meeting that occurred from 12-14th June 2023 in Jinja, Uganda. They will now complete the analysis and write up the results for publication. Be on the lookout for the CHEMCHA main trail and PK/PD sub-study manuscripts!
