Our PK/PD analysis of isoniazid was featured in the “Out of the Blue” podcast by the AJRCCM

This podcast by the Blue Journal, AJRCCM, one of the main TB journals (IF 21.4) featured our paper on the PK/PD of isoniazid. Paolo was invited to discuss with other authors the implication of Kamu’s analysis and its potential implications for dose individualisation of isoniazid against drug-resistant TB. We used a complex PK/PD model to characterise the effect of isoniazid PK on TB bacterial load, jointly modelling PK, colony forming units and time-to-positivity in MGIT. We managed to tease out a relationship and advised on dosing based on NAT2 acetylator status, a genetic predictor of the speed with which a patient will metabolise isoniazid.
