Dr Irene Honam Tsey
Irene Honam Tsey is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Policy and Implementation Research, Institute of Health Research, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ghana. She recently completed her PhD, during which she was co-mentored by the Ethics Lab. Her doctoral research explored deliberative engagement for genomic research and biobanking in Africa, focusing on procedural considerations, contextual influences, and associated outcomes.
Her research interests focus on the use of deliberative approaches to engage with ethical, legal, and social issues in genomic research and other emerging health technologies. She co-lectures Health Law and Ethics and is involved in implementation research on antimicrobial resistance in relation to gender equity, with a focus on intersectionality, and on neglected tropical diseases in relation to mental health, with a focus on integration.
She serves as Chairperson of the Research Ethics Committee of Ho teaching hospital in Ghana and as Deputy Chairperson of the University of Health and Allies Sciences Research Ethics Committee.
