Dr Brandon Ferlito
Brandon Ferlito is a bioethics and public health researcher at Ghent University, where his doctoral work examines responsibility and governance in AI-driven healthcare. His research spans bioethics, policy, and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on translating ethical analysis into practical governance frameworks in global health contexts.
Ferlito’s proposed retreat explores how responsibility is distributed in AI-driven healthcare systems, where decision-making is shared across clinicians, developers, and institutions. Drawing on relational and African philosophical approaches, the project challenges individualistic models of accountability and instead foregrounds collective responsibility, care, and solidarity. The retreat creates an interdisciplinary space that brings together participants from different disciplinary backgrounds to explore how African philosophical traditions can inform more just and context-sensitive approaches to ethics, governance, and responsibility in emerging health technologies.
