Dr Mai Ahmed

Dr. Mai Ahmed is a highly committed dental professional specializing in Periodontology. She obtained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the esteemed University of Gezira, Sudan, where she laid the foundation for her distinguished career in dentistry. Dr. Ahmed's relentless pursuit of excellence led her to earn certification from the German Board of Oral Implantology (GBOI) accredited by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Zahnärztliche Implantologie e.V.

With a steadfast dedication to her field, Dr. Ahmed furthered her academic journey by attaining an MSc in Periodontology from the University of the Western Cape. Presently, she is engaged in doctoral studies at the same institution, in collaboration with the University of Cape Town (UCT). Her doctoral research is centered on the investigation of extracellular vesicles and inflammatory mediators in periodontitis, with a specific focus on their potential as diagnostic biomarkers for gestational diabetes mellitus. This research underscores Dr. Ahmed's unwavering commitment to advancing oral healthcare through cutting-edge scientific inquiry.
