Jaco Hoffman is a Research Professor and Head of the Optentia Research Unit: Ageing and Generational Dynamics in Africa at North-West University (Vaal Triangle Campus). He is a James Martin Senior Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, UK and an Honorary Research Fellow at the Albertina & Walter Sisulu Institute of Ageing in Africa (IAA) at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

Hoffman is the coordinator of the African Research on Ageing Network (AFRAN) and a board member of the South African Care Forum (SACF). He is a Past President of the South African Gerontological Association (SAGA).
