John Joska is Head of the Clinical Unit (Psychiatry) and Head of the Division of Neuropsychiatry at Groote Schuur Hospital (GSH). He is also the Director of the HIV Mental Health Research Unit and Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health at the University of Cape Town (UCT).

He is a consultant in Old Age Psychiatry and is part of a multidisciplinary team in the UCT/GSH Memory Clinic within the Albertina & Walter Sisulu Institute of Ageing (IAA). He is responsible for old age psychiatry services for Metro West and is an Honorary lecturer in the Division of Geriatric Medicine. His main research interests are neurocognitive disorders in HIV infection, neuropsychiatry, and mental health services.
