Clinical research
As with most clinical disciplines, the Division of Neurosurgery has a long history of conducting clinical research, either retrospective or prospective case series. This plays an important part in familiarising registrars with research, and helping audit clinical practice.
Basic science and translational research
The newly-opened Neuroscience Institute offers opportunities and facilities for closer collaboration with colleagues in basic neuroscience, with a focus on topics that may be readily translated into clinical practice. Further details may be found on the NI website.
SARChI Chair of Clinical Neurosciences Research
This prestigious Research Chair – the only one to be located within a surgical discipline – was awarded to Professor Anthony Figaji in 2015, and renewed at Tier 1 for a further five years in 2020.
