Dr Georgina Stebbings
Dr Georgina Stebbings is the Head of the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences at Manchester Metropolitan University, where she is also a Reader in Sport and Exercise Physiology. Georgina's research includes investigating genetic determinants of, and systems level impacts on, elite athletic performance and injury susceptibility. Most recently, Georgina's research has focused on investigating the impact of gender-affirming hormone treatment on athletic performance in trans women and contributing to the scientific debate around eligibility criteria for sex categories in sport. Georgina is an Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist with the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) and also chairs the BASES ‘Molecular Exercise Physiology’ special interest group. In her applied practice, Georgina is a consultant sport scientist in professional women’s football and was formerly the Physical Performance Coach to the England Blind Lionesses national team.
Our in-person meeting will be in held in Classroom 1 on the third floor of the Sports Science Institute of South Africa. For those watching online, we have a zoom link below. The meeting starts at 10:30 am. We will spend the first 10-15 minutes on announcements (grants, publications etc) and research centre business. The webinar starts at 10.45am.
