Moses Isiagi Advert

 Join us this Friday: Mr Moses Isiagi will give a talk on 

 "Citizen science, Community Engagement through a Global surgery Lens"

Moses Isiagi is an interdisciplinary scientist with a rich and diverse educational background. He pursued his undergraduate studies in Sports Science at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, where he gained comprehensive knowledge in the field. Subsequently, he furthered his academic pursuits at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, obtaining a BSc (Med)Hons Biokinetics and later an MSc (Med), with a notable distinction in the department of Exercise Science and Sports Medicine. 

Moses has recently submitted his PhD in Medicine at the prestigious Lung Clinical Research Unit, situated within the Division of Pulmonology and the Department of Medicine at the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. He is a lecturer, Projects manager, Research Advocacy and Implementation undergraduate convenor, Electives convenor and master’s course convenor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Global surgery ,University of Cape Town.

Moses's work centres on global surgery research, specifically addressing the unmet need for healthcare access and the quality of surgical care. He is particularly focused on understanding the geospatial determinants of health (GDOH) in low-resourced settings, including factors that vary by location. His ultimate goal is to shape the public health curriculum of schools across Africa to advance geospatial analysis, statistics, and technology in the study of public health. Overall, Moses's work is dedicated to improving healthcare access and outcomes in low-resourced communities in Africa. 

For this talk, Moses will focused on Citizen science which promotes a participatory approach, engaging patients, volunteers, and decision-makers in co-developing solutions that meet community needs.
