Are commercial genetic exercise-associated musculoskeletal tissue injury tests premature?

Professor Malcom Collins
Prof Malcolm Collins is a Professor at HPALS@UCT within the Div. of Physiological sciences in the dept. of Human Biology. He obtained a BSc degree majoring in Biochemistry and Human Physiology and a BSc (Hons) degree Cum Laude in Biochemistry from Stellenbosch University, followed by a PhD in Medical Biochemistry on collagen gene expression from the UCT. Prof Collins joined HPALS after completing his post-doctoral work in extracellular matrix protein (ECM) gene expression at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA. His doctoral and post-doctoral work in ECM, in particular collagen, gene expression, stimulated his current research focus on elucidating the molecular mechanisms causing common exercise-associated musculoskeletal soft tissue (tendons and ligaments) injuries.
Our in-person meeting will be in held in Classroom 1 on the third floor of the Sports Science Institute of South Africa. For those watching online, we have a zoom link below. The meeting starts at 10:30 am. We will spend the first 10-15 minutes on announcements (grants, publications etc) and research centre business. The webinar starts at 10.45am. For those who are only joining us for the webinar presentation remotely, please only join at 10:45am. Please note we have one zoom link for both meetings.
