Dr Sharief Hendricks Gains STIAS and SASMA Awards
Congratulations to Dr Sharief Hendricks on being awarded the prestigious Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS) Fellowship, as well as the South African Sports Medicine Association (SASMA) Lifetime Membership Award
The Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS) fellowship is very prestigious, particularly within Africa and the Global South. In 2018, STIAS became the first and only African institute to join the "Some Institutes for Advanced Study" (SIAS) consortium—placing it alongside elite institutes like Princeton IAS, Stanford, Harvard Radcliffe, and others in Europe and North America . This membership reflects international recognition of STIAS’s rigorous scholarship, competitive fellowship program, independent funding, and academic freedom.
