Robert Kingsley Lohlun is a consultant Haematopathologist based at Groote Schuur Hospital and Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town. His training in Haematology was undertaken at the University of Stellenbosch and NHLS. He started as a consultant in the Department of Pathology, Division of Haematology at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and NHLS in January 2023.
Kingsley’s areas of expertise involve all aspects of diagnosis of haematological conditions including morphology, coagulation, flow cytometry and interpretation of molecular tests. He is interested in growing the fields of coagulation and thrombosis, morphology, and flow cytometry.
Kingsley is involved in departmental research and is co-supervising MMed students. He is also involved in the UCT undergraduate portfolio and registrar training. He has a passion for transferring his knowledge to other registrars in training which allows him to stay abreast of developments in the field. He hopes to make a positive impact in the medical lives of patients as well as future doctors, instilling a deeper understanding of pathology and to encourage future pathologists into the field.
