The Division of Biomedical Engineering hosted 85 grade-10 pupils from Khayelitsha for the third 100UP Workshop on Biomedical Engineering on 20 October 2018. The aim was once again to introduce diverse aspects of biomedical engineering to the learners who are in their first year of the 100UP project of UCT's School Improvement Initiative. This year the workshop featured six thematic stations:

  • Magnetic resonance imaging,
  • Cardiovascular devices,
  • Tissue engineering,
  • Outreach movies prepared by our first-year Master's students,
  • Digital health, and
  • Health innovation.

Much appreciation goes to all the staff and students of the Division of Biomedical Engineering that made the workshop successful - and to Mr Gilbert Dolo, the 100UP project coordinator from UCT's School Development Unit.
