Loren Leclezio presents at the TSC International Research Conference in Washington
Loren Leclezio a doctoral researcher at the Centre for Autism Research in Africa (CARA) recently presented at the Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) International Research Conference in Washington. Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) is rare genetic disorder that is characterised by the development of tumours in different parts of the body. Of those diagnosed with TSC, close to 50% have a co-morbid diagnosis of autism. Loren’s work at the conference looked at natural clusters of TSC associated neuropsychiatric disorders (TAND). She found using a multivariate analysis that some of the TAND clusters which emerged included scholastic, neuropsychological, mood / anxiety. ASD-like, hyperactive/impulsive, behaviours that challenge and eating / sleeping clusters.
