On the 4th and 5th of November 2023, the Cape Heart Institute will host a hand-held cardiac ultrasound course as part of the hospital partnership between the Cape Heart Institute/Groote Schuur Hospital Clinic and the Saarland University Hospital in Homburg, Germany. The Hospital Partnerships – Partners Strengthen Health funding programme is a joint initiative of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation (EKFS). Our hospital partnership entitled "Hand-held cardiac point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) course for junior doctors in South Africa" targets 2nd-year interns from hospitals around Cape Town and will teach the basics of emergency cardiac point-of-care echocardiography using hand-held echo devices.
