Dr Tasnim Bana
PhD candidate
CHI research group: Cardiac Imaging and Inflammation
Dr Tasnim Bana is a specialist physician and PhD research fellow at the University of Cape Town. Her work is related to characterising cardiovascular involvement in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and gout, using multimodal imaging with a focus on cardiovascular magnetic resonance. She is also investigating markers of immune activation and proteomic signatures associated with cardiovascular disease in SLE, to determine underlying pathophysiological mechanisms.
Research engagements:
- Cardiovascular disease (CVD) in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
- Advanced cardiovascular imaging in autoimmune rheumatic diseases
- Proteomic signatures in SLE CVD and lupus nephritis
