CHI research group: Partnerships for children with heart disease in Africa (PROTEA)

M. Taariq Salie is a postgraduate fellow at the University of Cape Town, supervised by Prof. Mark Engel (AFROStrep research initiative, Cape Heart Institute, Department of Medicine). His research area is in the rheumatic heart disease (RHD) space, to better understand the mechanisms of disease progression. The objective of the research is to identify putative biomarkers for RHD, which will likely inform the development of novel alternative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
