CHI research group: Cardiovascular Genetics
Abbey Houghton is an MSc (Med) student in the Cardiovascular Genetic group at the Cape Heart Institute (CHI), University of Cape Town. She completed both her BSc (Human Life Sciences) and BSc (Hons) in Human and Animal Genetics at Stellenbosch University. Under the supervision of A/Prof Gasnat Shaboodien (CHI and Division of Cardiovascular Genetics) and Prof Ntobeko Ntusi (CHI and Department of Medicine), her project will focus on investigating the segregation analysis, haplotype formation and genealogical tracing of pathogenic founder variants found in probands presenting with various cardiomyopathies.
