Load-shedding is a major challenge in South Africa, and our lab has taken a proactive approach to ensure that we are prepared in case of power cuts.

Our most valuable asset is our samples, and we have brainstormed and planned meticulously to ensure their safety. We identified the critical equipment for sample storage, which included four -80 Freezers, our temperature monitoring system, and the two air conditioner units in our sample facility.

To ensure that our samples are safe during power outages, we installed 3x 8kVA inverters along with 6x 10kWh Lithium-ion batteries. This setup enables us to run the 4 -80 freezers, temperature monitoring system, and 2 air conditioners for approximately 6-8 hours.

We monitor the system remotely to stay informed. The installation was carried out by certified master-rated installers, as confirmed by the equipment supplier
