About IDM Microscopy Platform
The IDM Microscopy Platform is a core facility providing microscopy and imaging solutions for infectious disease and human health research at the University of Cape Town. The facility was formalised in 2022 with a diverse fleet of microscopes in both BSL2 and BSL3 labs. We aim to be at the forefront of providing researchers and students with access to cutting-edge equipment, technical expertise, and educational resources, while partnering with regional and international programs to build imaging expertise and capacity locally and throughout Africa.
Our Mission
- Hands-on training and educational programs
- Diverse and specialised state-of-the-art imaging equipment and analytical tools
- Technical expertise from skilled staff and scientists
- Support through consultations and collaborations
Our Team
The IDM-µ is staffed by a small but passionate team of skilled professionals with diverse backgrounds in microscopy, imaging, and infectious disease research. Our team members are dedicated to staying ahead of the latest technological advancements and providing exceptional support to our users.
