Dr Nqobile (Sindiswa) Thango
Consultant Paediatric Neurosurgeon, Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital
Nqobile Thango is a paediatric neurosurgeon and lecturer in neurosurgery at the University of Cape Town. In addition, Nqobile is a researcher at the UCT-Neuroscience institute. Her research interests include neurosurgical research education and capacity building, along with understanding how the brain responds to injury at a cellular level (infections/traumatic brain injury). And the role of the blood-brain-barrier (BBB) concerning pharmacokinetics.
Nqobile is Chair of the Young African Neurosurgeons Forum, an organization which has been instrumental in conducting research and educational activities on the African continent. She is the research co-lead in the WFNS Global neurosurgery committee and the WFNS Young Neurosurgeons Forum.
