Congratulations to Rochelle Smith who submitted for examination her dissertation for the MSc (Med) in Mechanobiology.on cell mechanics in cancer drug resistance. In her dissertation titled "Cancer Cell Mechanics in Chemoresistance and Chemotherapeutic Drug Exposure", Rochelle investigated cellular mechanical responses of melanoma cells to drug interactions and the mechanical properties of chemoresistant cells. Rochelle's research was undertaken in collaboration with Prof Sharon Prince from UCT's Division of Cell Biology, and Prof Muhammad Zaman from Boston University and HHMI.

Rochelle now wants to take up PhD studies in our lab to extend the investigations undertaken during her Master's research.
