Exciting Changes Ahead: BMBL To Move
In the next months, the Biomechanics and Mechanobiology Lab will move to the Division of Biomedical Engineering in the Department of Human Biology of UCT. This change is connected with Tom Franz having been offered the position of Head of the Division of Biomedical Engineering. The current research trusts and collaborations of BMBL will not be affected by the move. Biomaterial and cell injection therapies for myocardial infarction remain the primary research focus for which substantial grant applications are in process. The move will, however, provide exciting opportunities to expand to new research areas beyond cardiovascular diseases - based on BMBL's 12 years of experience in research in a clinical department. Clinical impact will continue to be an important aspect in our research and we will retain, and expand, our existing links to the Chris Barnard Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, the Department of Surgery and beyond.
We will keep this web page and will post updates, new contact details and locations here. Come back to stay in touch and join us in getting more excited.
