Caron is a cell biologist and CZI-funded Imaging Scientist at the University of Cape Town. She has worked with the Confocal and Light Microscope Imaging Facility in the Department of Human Biology since 2019, and shifted to build the IDM-µ as a sister platform in the faculty since 2021. Her research interests include host-pathogen interactions and assay development, and she shares her passions for microscopy, infectious disease research, skills transfer, and capacity development, with students and researchers through the IDM-µ, the Africa Microscopy Initiative (AMI), and the African BioImaging Consortium (ABIC), which she co-founded with African researchers in 2021. ​
