Ms Ubuntu Hlatshwayo
Ubuntu Hlatshwayo is best described as eclectic, embracing a myriad of perspectives from various schools of thought. She is currently a fourth year MBChB student, while holding a Bachelor of Medical Science Honours degree in Neuroscience and Physiology. With a deep passion for medical research, she continues to play an integral role in the Raimondo Lab, where she imparts her expertise in the Hybridisation Chain Reaction technique. She has been in numerous leadership roles and currently serves as the Vice President of the UCT Surgical Society. Her exposure to Global Surgery has broadened her view of surgical care, highlighting the issues of access to surgical care in South Africa. She contributed to theorganising committee for the International Conference in Innovations in Global Surgery in 2024, held in Cape Town. Her journey includes serving as the Speakers Coordinator for TEDxUCT in 2023, where her passion for oratory and cultural arts found expression.
