Dr Marvin Jansen Awarded Prestigious Harvard South Africa Fellowship
Dr Marvin Jansen, Head of the Clinical Skills Centre at UCT's Department of Health Sciences Education, has been awarded the Harvard South Africa Fellowship for 2025. Established in 1979, this prestigious program allows mid-career professionals from South Africa to study at Harvard University to further their contributions to academia, public service, and civil society.
With a background as an advanced life support paramedic and a passion for health care education and simulation, Dr Jansen is also the founder of the African Simulation Network, aimed at advancing medical simulation training across the continent. He will attend the General Management Programme at Harvard Business School, focusing on leadership and strategic development.
Reflecting on his journey from Manenberg to Harvard, Dr Jansen credits his upbringing for instilling resilience and determination. His commitment to education extends beyond academia, as he actively shares educational content via TikTok and co-founded SilverStream Tutoring, a mathematics initiative supporting learners in Heideveld.
