Face - 2- Face is back

Once again we are adjusting to a ‘new normal’ as we no longer have to wear masks or limit venue capacities. According to the VC Desk “UCT remains committed to normalising our in-person and on-campus activities as soon as possible.” What this means for our faculty, and particularly our department, is not quite clear yet, but change is coming. We will thus communicate timeously about any changes. 

Last month, our colleagues, Suraya Basterman  and Shaneel Nutt made use of the new ruling and attended one of the first face-to-face gatherings for staff  held at UCT - the Vendor Expo at the Baxter Theatre. They had the opportunity to meet and greet “the person behind the email” and the “voice behind the Teams screen”. They met with people they regularly communicate with, and got to meet new vendors who they might have to work with in  future. There was even a lucky draw competition and Shaneel won a UCT peak cap, how fantastic! Besides the missing catering, stationery or PPE vendors at the exhibition, Suraya mentioned “overall it was a really nice exhibition.”
