The Department of Health Science Education is developing a student advising centre in the Faculty of Health Sciences students. It will be a hot spot “learning Hub” that is non-traditional 21st century learning space to provide ‘on the spot’ learning support and advice about various pertinent topics/issues faced by first year students in the Faculty of Health Sciences. A first step is to identify existing academic and non-academic support on offer to students (ad hoc and conventional) through collating information what is available. The second step as indicated previously is to advise students on the learning support of academic and non-academic support on offer in the Faculty using peer facilitators or postgraduate students. The pilot phase will be aimed at the 1st year students.
