Groote Schuur Hospital Skills lab project completed
1 August 2014
The upgrade of the Clinical Skills Training Lab at the Groote Schuur Hospital has just been completed.
Before: a section of the Clinical Skills Training Lab.
An old storage space was completely converted to provide a new state-of the art lab.
It includes a training area kitted out with medical pendants and dummies, a computer area, an office and also a lecture room that seats over 30 students. It serves to train doctors and nurses.
After: a section of the upgraded Clinical Skills Training Lab.
"The area was dark and full of old furniture and unused equipment and abandoned areas. We needed to break down walls and refurbish the entire space," says P&S project's manager Thaabiet Abrahams.
The refurbishment also included putting in new electrical and service infrastructure. It also included us assisting with all the new medical pendant installations, said Thaabiet.
The outcome is a space that gives world-class training facilities to doctors and nurses at the hospital.
