Healthy Futures South Africa (HFSA), the local partner for the multipartite Africa Health Collaborative, bridges the gap between youth potential and community health needs.
By connecting young people of South Africa to meaningful opportunities in the health sector whilst strengthening the systems that support them, HFSA contributes to healthier communities, more responsive primary health care and a generation of socially conscious leaders, workers, innovators and changemakers.
Improving community health and expanding opportunities for young people are not separate challenges – they are deeply interconnected and must be addressed together.
Our vision
To prepare diverse young people for meaningful and dignified livelihoods that transform health and well-being in Africa through equitable, contextually appropriate and sustainable Primary Health Care (PHC) systems.
The challenge we're addressing
South Africa faces a convergence of interconnected challenges: persistently high youth unemployment, a weak and fragmented primary health care system, limited structured pathways into health careers and insufficient integration between education, entrepreneurship, governance and community systems. These are not isolated problems – they are deeply intertwined and addressing them requires a coordinated, systems-oriented response. HFSA was established to meet this challenge head-on.
