“In silico mechanics of stem cells intramyocardially transplanted with a biomaterial injectate for treatment of myocardial infarction.”

We’re excited to share our latest paper on the PhD work of Dr Dodzi Motchon: In this work, he combined microstructural and biventricular finite‑element models to quantify the deformation of transplanted stem cells within biomaterial injectates during the cardiac cycle. The results show that cell deformation is strongly dependent on biomaterial stiffness, offering insights into the micromechanics underlying cell‑based therapies for myocardial infarction.

This study demonstrates how in silico modelling can inform the design of biomaterial and cell therapies, helping to bridge the gap between experimental observations and cardiac function.

Many thanks to all co‑authors for a great collaboration!
