Dr Olivia Matshabane

Dr Olivia Matshabane is a Neuroethics Researcher in the Department of Psychiatry at Stellenbosch University, where she leads the Africa Neuroethics Research Group. As a Research Associate in the EthicsLab, she partners with academics in the team to convene and teach on the 'Ethics of New and Emerging Neurotechnologies’ to Master’s students at the Neuroscience Institute. She also partners with the team to co-host webinars and seminars on the ethics of neuroscience in Africa and globally. Her research focuses on the ethical, social, psychological, and cultural implications of neuropsychiatric genomics and the neuroethical implications of neuroscience and neurotechnologies.
