Innovative Teaching Using Technology @UCT
Innovate, Integrate, Inspire
iTUT is a six-topic course designed to help educators effectively and efficiently integrate technology into their teaching. It equips participants with practical skills to create and deliver content in ways that are relevant to their contexts. This course mainly benefits those new to e-learning or seeking to build confidence in digital teaching tools.
The course is structured as six standalone modules and explores the possibilities of technology in education, focusing on Microsoft's suite and other supported tools. Each module offers practical skills and knowledge that can be applied independently, allowing educators to select relevant topics.
The course is delivered in a hybrid, synchronous/asynchronous format using MS Teams and Amathuba (UCT's learning management system). Sessions incorporate interactive tools, presentations, and scholarly articles to enrich learning. Live sessions occur every Friday from 13:00 to 15:00. The course runs over six weeks, requiring 2 to 3 hours per week for live sessions, activities, and reflection. The first session is essential, providing the foundation for the following weeks, after which participants can choose which topics they want to participate in.
iTUT is fully funded by the Education Development Unit, Health Sciences, and is free for participants. Educators will earn 2 CPD points per completed topic.
