Tafadzwa Mautsa, MPH presented at the 18th World Congress of Public Health
Junior Research Fellow Tafadzwa Mautsa presented one of our latest research projects at the 18th World Congress of Public Health yesterday!
The study was a proof-of-concept open trial exploring QUIT-AD, an integrated behavioural intervention to support smoking cessation and improve TB/HIV treatment adherence among people living with HIV in Khayelitsha, South Africa.
As an early-stage study, the trial explored whether the intervention was feasible and acceptable, while also looking for preliminary signs that it could support smoking cessation and TB treatment adherence. It showed evidence of being acceptable, feasible, and effective!
These promising findings represent a crucial step forward in addressing the complex intersection of smoking, HIV, and TB in South Africa.
