In the spirit of Mandela Day, the Department of Health Science Education (DHSE) and the Education Development Unit (EDU) joined hands to give back to the community by creating Rainbow Soup Jars for the residents of New Dawn Community.
Inspired by Nelson Mandela's belief that every individual has the power to make a positive difference, staff members came together to dedicate their 67 minutes and more to a meaningful cause. The initiative saw colleagues working side by side, carefully layering nutritious ingredients into jars to create colourful and wholesome soup mixes that can provide warm meals for families in need.
The completed Rainbow Soup Jars were donated to New Dawn Community, helping to support individuals and families facing food insecurity. Each jar represents not only a nutritious meal but also a gesture of kindness, solidarity, and hope.
Through this initiative, DHSE and EDU reaffirmed their commitment to social responsibility and community engagement, embodying the values of compassion, service, and human dignity that Mandela Day encourages.
