The University of Cape Town will host the 3rd International Congress in Innovations for Global Surgery. This is a truly international congress which aims to address the unmet need for surgery, obstetrics and anaesthesia care in low- and middle-income settings.

The conference theme is ‘Value-based innovation in Global Surgery’. We plan to share and showcase innovations and advances in Global Surgery, Surgery and Biomedical engineering, and best practice. We have a variety of themes including access to surgical care, improving the quality of surgical care, technology and infrastructure, and systems thinking. We look forward to hosting, surgeons, anaesthetists, biomedical engineers, obstetricians and gynaecologists, emergency physicians, global leaders, decision makers, undergraduate students and registrars and invite you to join us. We will host 6 pre-congress workshops, and bursaries are available.

The congress is organised by Innovations in Global Surgery and the University of Cape Town’s Global Surgery Division, Surgical Society and the Medical Devices Lab, in partnership with the International Association of Students Surgical Societies (IASSS) and Stellenbosch University.
