Jointly appointed staff account for 25% of the FHS staff compliment, and play a critical role in clinical service delivery, teaching, and research across university, provincial, and national platforms. However, in working across these different platforms, many jointly appointed staff feel frustrated by the experience of disjuncture between employment equity strategies, key performance areas, promotion criteria, and the transformation goals of UCT, the Western Cape Government (WCG) and the National Health Laboratories Services (NHLS).

On behalf of the Transformation and Equity Committee’s Staff Wellness portfolio, we invite jointly appointed staff to attend an engagement with the Deputy Dean: Social Accountability and Health Systems, A/Prof Tracey Naledi, to explore issues of concern and identify areas for development.
