Ms Manushka van Dyk

Clinical Educator

Qualifications

  • BSc. OT (UCT)

Introduction

I graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2004 with a BSc in Occupational Therapy. I completed my community service in rural KwaZulu-Natal, where my passion for Primary Health Care and Paediatrics began.

Over the past 15 years, I have worked in district health and PHC facilities across the Western Cape before moving into independent paediatric private practice. I later joined the Division of Occupational Therapy as a clinical educator.

I have a strong interest in the integration of Primary Health Care and Physical Health within Occupational Therapy, particularly in response to the pressing needs of the South African context. Through my role as a clinical educator and my supervision of second- and third-year OT students in practice learning, I focus on preparing students to engage meaningfully in PHC, with an emphasis on addressing physical health needs.
