PGDip Students Field Trip to Slave Lodge and District Six Museum
In November 2025, our Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) students participated in a meaningful field trip to the Slave Lodge and the District Six Museum in Cape Town.
The visit offered students a powerful opportunity to engage with South Africa’s complex history of slavery, forced removals, and resilience. Through guided tours, exhibits, and reflective discussions, they gained deeper insight into the socio-historical context that continues to influence health, community well-being, and healthcare delivery in our country today.
This experiential learning activity formed an important part of the students’ professional development, fostering greater cultural awareness, empathy, and understanding — qualities essential for providing compassionate, context-sensitive nursing care.
The field trip was both educational and thought-provoking, leaving a lasting impression on all who participated.
Thank you to the staff and students who made this enriching outing possible! 🏛️📖
