The 2026 SA-ACAPAP Congress, in participation with PANDA-SA and SAISI, was held in Cape Town from 12 - 14 March, 2026. Members of CARA contributed in a variety of ways. Marisa Viljoen and Eugene Davids coordinated the Emerging Researcher Workshop. Dr Liezl Schlebusch gave an oral presentation: "The "Bloom" autism support programme for families: Findings from a South African pilot study" as part of the Global PET Project. Dr Nola Chambers gave oral presentations on the "Validation of the TSC-Associated Neuropsychiatric Disorders Self-Report Quantified Checklist (TAND-SQ)" and "The TANDem-2 Study: Closing the gap to interventions for TSC-Associated Neuropsychiatric Disorders" as part of the TANDem and TANDem-2 Projects. Amy Seale gave an oral presentation on "Understanding the barriers and facilitators to autism early intervention in South Africa: Implementation partners' perspectives on caregiver coaching by non-specialists" and Katlego Sebolai gave a poster presentation on "Does home language matter in language testing? Adjusted associations with Griffiths-III language and communication subtest at baseline" as part of the ACACIA project. Dr Sarosha Pillay also presented a poster entitled "Assessing autism knowledge and stigma in Rehabilitation Care Workers (RCW) in the Western Cape Province" and our newest CARA team member, Done Smit, presented a poster entitled: "Designing belonging: Translating autistic experience through visual narrative".
